The Rubinoos, one of America’s most iconic power pop bands, are legendary for their infectious hooks, harmonies, and clever humor. Established by Tommy Dunbar and Jon Rubin, the band earned significant recognition with their albums "The Rubinoos" (1977) and "Back to the Drawing Board" (1979), with their cover of "I Think We're Alone Now," leading to an appearance on Dick Clark’s American Bandstand. They made waves across the Atlantic with their single, “I Want to Be Your Boyfriend.” Their sound, image, and personalities captured the zeitgeist of the late 70s and 80s pop scene: they graced the cover of Tiger Beat many times and wrote the songs and theme for the film “Revenge of the Nerds.” Their legendary tour history, including an impressive run of 56 dates opening for Elvis Costello is the stuff of legend, and continues through today.
